Base Value
The first step when determing a motorhome's value is to find the base value. It is most important to have the correct year, make, model and trim options for the motorhome. Then adjust this amount up or down based on the following variables:
Condition
The blue book values provided by NADA Guides for recreational vehicles are based on good condition. The value you determine should be adjusted up or down based on better or worse condition such as excellent, fair or poor.
Mileage
Average mileage is considered 15,000 miles for the first year and 10,000 miles each additional year. The value should be adjusted up or down if more or less mileage.
Optional Equipment
The base value is determined by including standard equipment. Any optional equipment included should be added to the value.
Location
Cost of transporting the motorhome from seller to buyer should be included when comparing the real cost of motorhomes if you are considering a purchase.

Suggested List
The suggested list price provided by NADA Guides is an approximate cost of the motorhome when brand new. These suggested list prices are provided to NADA from the manufacturer. Additional costs may be added for freight and delivery on new motorhomes. NADA references a $.70 per mile freight charge for current year models of motorhomes. This cost is multiplied by a city to city mileage amount for a total freight cost added to a new motorhome's value.
Dealer Cost
The dealer cost is published each year within only the January - April edition of the printed NADA's Recreational Vehicles Appraisal Guide. The dealer cost is an approximate value used for financing, insurance and appraisals. Dealer cost is provided for current year models only.
Used Wholesale / Trade In
Average wholesale value of a used motorhome ready for resale.
Used Retail
Average retail value of a used motorhome ready for resale.
Brand New, Non Current
The used retail value does not include "brand new" non current year motorhomes. Brand new, non current models can have a value from 6 to 12 percent above the used value of an identical model.
When appraising motorhomes, the amount of mileage may be taken into consideration to determine an accurate value. To assist with determining the value of any motorhome, NADA Guides provides a motorhome mileage adjustment using a schedule that adds or deducts a percentage based on the amount of mileage.
The motorhome's mileage percentage is added or deducted from the book value prior to adding for optional equipment.
The percentage added or deducted is for gas engines only, do not add or deduct for diesel engines.
